報告簡介:We have shown that brain injury is a leading cause of childhood injury, and that it is linked to problems in social cognition. Also that a substantial number of young offenders have had TBIs. We have also shown that TBI is linked to earlier, more violent, and frequent offending. The UK government has noted the importance of managing TBI in offenders. And we have helped develop a new system for assessing young people who enter into the cirmninal justice system. In this talk I will give an overview of our work so far, and our future projects, in particular, to look into the use of neuroimaging of executive and social cognition deficits in prisoners and links to future offending behaviour. In this work our main aim to to develop ways to rehabiitate such offenders so that we can enable affected individuals become more included in society and reduce the number of future victims of violence.
